Community Outreach

Committee Overview
The Community Outreach committee was developed in 2016 to utilize the resources of AAF Madison to plan and implement short-term volunteer projects in response to community needs of non-profit organizations in the greater Madison area. Needs may include, but are not limited to, creation of identity materials, public relations support, social media support, digital support or branding strategy. The committee partners with the organization to determine and assist with specific projects. Our goal is to provide support to a minimum of two non-profit organizations per year. Our committee members have a wide array of diverse skills that are put to work to reach the desired project short and long term goals.

We welcome you to join our committee or refer a non-profit organization in need of assistance. Please email us the details at info@aafmadison.org

Committee Member Benefits
Committee Members experience unique exposure to the “bigger picture” (beyond their current area of work) and a great feeling from knowing that they are helping to improve the lives of others within our community while enhancing their professional growth. In less than two years, we have worked with and helped four non-profits within our community inlcuding: Retired Senior Volunteer, Inc. (RSVP), The Salvation Army of Dane County, The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Madison and The Madison Dental Initiative (MDI).

Testimonials

Retired Senior Volunteer, Inc. (RSVP)

American Advertising Federation-Madison was key to RSVP's Public Service Campaign success - connecting us with their colleagues in the media and helping form a strong message to increase name recognition, which resulted in hundreds of spots being aired on television and radio. RSVP received a tremendous outpouring of support which would not have been possible without their involvement.
Margie Zutter, Executive Director RSVP of Dane County, Inc.

The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Madison
This was an amazing opportunity! Thank you for your work gathering the committee and talent. The young people you brought to the table were professional, creative, positive, and best of all helpful. The messages they brought to the table were very important to hear. The outside perspectives were a real morale booster. We are all still very excited about the possibilities. Of course the logistics are always the last hurtle but your committee’s ideas pushed us in the right direction, and it has taken us far.  After organizing an outreach committee, this month we are finally finishing up the text for a professional brochure on information and fundraising. The investment is a leap of faith but we are more confident after using your suggestions.  The web site has been improved and continues to change with a new critical eye.  Our outreach presentations have improved through smart changes to our power point.  We have even developed a new tag line. “Changing a language disability to a reading ABILITY, one child at a time.” We were not able to use the wonderful logo Chris developed for us right now, but I did send it to our main office in Lexington MA as a future possibility for all 45 centers. Your impressive help has set us on a positive track for which we are all grateful. This couldn’t have come at a better time. Both our training program has tripled in size and our in house tutoring program has grown by 1/3 in the last year. As our budget needs have increased, our on point message is even more important.  The time spent was well used and we hope to benefit from it for years to come.  Again thank you and your crew for your time and talents.

Madison Dental Initiative (MDI)
The assistance, guidance, and counsel from the American Advertising Federation came to our organization (Madison Dental Initiative) at the perfect time in our evolution and growth. Like so many young non-profits, resources sometimes run thin and while a need exists for an advertising and marketing strategy, having the ability to cover these professional fees can be a limitation. AAF helped us develop our marketing and awareness strategy, improve our presentation for sponsorships, and strengthen our fundraising strategies. Without question, their services have been invaluable to our organization and have supported our desire to grow and help more people.
Curtis Henderson, MPH Executive Director

The Salvation Army of Dane County
We all felt that the information that you shared with us was very helpful.  I really appreciated the fact that many of your ideas were in line with the suggestions originally presented.  I really appreciate all the time and effort from your group.  We will be using your presentation at a future board meeting so that all of our board members hear the message.
Stephen Heck, Director of Development The Salvation Army of Dane County
